We have the
V540a bios for the I-Opener. These support IDE hard drives
and Sound on all versions of the I-Opener. If your IOPENER
boots with a DARK SCREEN that just says IOPENER you need
this chip to load your hard drive. This version has the
latest USB fixes and K6+ CPU support.
Because of what has happened to the V3 I-O sockets
(EPOXY GOO), good contact is not always achieved when replacing the chip in the socket.
All chips shipped from BadFlash are checked for operation before they are shipped. Each
chip is individually checked to be sure it can be erased, programmed, and contains the
correct bios file. Many people report that the need to clean the surface of the I-O
contacts by scraping with a flat blade jeweler's screw driver. In some cases people have
used a fine tipped needle nose pliers to bend out the legs (very slightly) on the chip to
make up good contact. Others have reported that not pushing the chip all the way down
helps.
Be sure to insert the bios chip in the correct
direction. There is a dot on one shoulder of the chip that indicates the pin 1 direction.
Get it backwards and power up the board and the chip is dead. Be sure to remove the plug
from the I-O between each attempt at chip seating. The push button does not remove power
from the board! Do NOT use an ohm meter to check continuity! this is almost a sure death
sentence for your chip! |

I-Opener IDE Custom
Cables
I will make CUSTOM 2.5" 44 PIN
IDE CABLES upon request for those of you who want an external mount or want to add a
CDROM. The cost will be $2.50 per connector and $1.50 per foot (or any part there of). The
MINIMUM ORDER is $10. You need to include your specs in the text box below and be specific
with what you want. These are CUSTOM. These cables use a double connector at the
motherboard end to do the wire flipping needed for the I-O IDE connection. This means that
a minimum of 3 connectors are needed.
To specify what you want start with the
cable running left to right with the red pin 1 stripe at the bottom. State where you want
the double connector (left end, right end or someplace in the middle) and if the open
(female) end should point up or down. Do this with the other connectors as well and how
long the total length should be. As an example, Red Stripe on the bottom, 18" cable
with one connection at the left end pointing up and 2 connections at the right end
pointing down.
If you want loose cable or connectors I will sell them
at the same price as assembled cables ($2.50 per connector and $1.50 per foot, minimum $10
total). Just let me know below.
